Disney Lantern Corps by Silverwingfox Disney Lantern Corps by Silverwingfox
Sorry I haven't been responding in a while...I've just been dealing with a lot of crap. I just changed my major, so

Anyway sorry it looks like crap...I know it's no excuse but, I've just been feeling down these past few weeks and been having a lot of mental breakdowns, so bear with my shitty art.

From Left to right:
EDIT: Just gonna write some quick notes on why I chose "x"
Red Lantern Stitch-Based off his initial behavior
Orange Lantern Ariel-She's a horder, and incredibly selfish within the context of her own movie
Yellow Lantern Jack Skellington-He likes to inspire fear
Green Lantern Mulan-Most Disney characters fall under Will, so I just picked Mulan and gave her a Jedi ish outfit
Blue Lantern Beast-He has a lot of hope. And don't ask for what smartass
Indigo Lantern Aladdin - he's very compassionate, even more so in the series, so he fits
Star Sapphire Jessica Rabbit-She has great love for her husband
Black Lantern Flynn/Eugene Ryder-Fitzherbert-He died and came back to life, it's a no brainer
and White Lantern Rapunzel-She brought Flynn back to life, also DUH

Also, those of you who keep telling me I should put "x villain" as "x lantern", I DIDN'T WANT TO USE VILLAINS. Because then it would be too easy to fill the fear/avarice/rage/ and death slots.

Also, I only picked movie characters, because otherwise there would be like 50 slots here. I'd have to take into account ALL of the Disney series. And If I did that, I'd end up with 10 for each lantern. MAYBE I'll do the series in the future, but it would have to be poll based because there's no way I'd be able to narrow it down.

Side note: Jessica's HUGE...tracts of land were hard to do without succumbing to everything I ever learned about anatomy piling out

OTHER EDIT: OMG!!! This was posted on [link] Sooooo Happy you guys, you don't know how much this means to me!!!

You know the Irony of this picture is that in a Disney movie, one of these Characters went on an adventure to see the " Lanterns ". X-D

I agree with your choices. Especially the Ariel one. One of the reasons I NEVER liked her was that she basically defied her father for selfish reasons more than once and in the end got rewarded for it! Roll Eyes Facepalm  When you think about it, Triton's rule about not going to the water surface seems VERY reasonable and it's not like he was ever a jerk of a parent.

Heh. Ariel's my favorite :) Not sure why Flynn's a Black Lantern...

Whoa!  Where'd you find all the colors?  I recognize Red, Yellow, Green and Blue, but where'd you find the others.  And I'd have made Jessica Rabbit a Pink lantern.

Herc and Aladar would make just has good choices for blue lantern, I think.
DarkenedKrystal Featured By Owner Jan 14, 2014
Can't say I agree with most choices, though Jack as a Yellow Lantern works. Token Good Teammate, perhaps?
Touch-Not-This-Cat Featured By Owner Jan 6, 2014
There can only be one agent Orange; in the Disney Universe that is either Willie the Giant, or Glomgold Flintheart. King Midas was close, but he DID give up everything for a hamburger.

I specifically did not want to choose villains. It would be too easy to fill slots otherwise
Deargdul90 Featured By Owner Nov 7, 2013
I enjoy this. I agree with this.

You forget that Indigo Tribe picks those who need compassion, not those who have it

I somehow think Oogie Boogie would have been better suited for a yellow lantern ring. Clayton from Tarzan for Avarice. Then for rage I find it to be a draw between Frollo and Shan Yu.

Good call on Aladdin though...when it comes down to it he can be quite St. Walkeresque...
Silverwingfox Featured By Owner Aug 19, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
I refrained from using villains because then it would be too easy to fit them into the slots
maggot216 Featured By Owner Aug 19, 2013  Professional Photographer
True, but even in line within Lantern lore and the catalyst to what would be villany would be accentuated by the ring. with this in mind, the red, orange and yellow rings bring out the worst in someone. When you break down each Disney villain and their reason behind doing something, then you could make that find it isn't that easy.

Other than that good work

Someone at school made me an indigo ring, so I can relate to Aladdin. :)

I like all the characters, though have to say Jack kinda looks like a mime version of the Joker.

The art on this is good, and some of the choices, like Ariel make some sense. But I'm not sure that Stitch really fits the Red Lanterns. Usually their rage is derived from some great tragedy. I don't see that with Stitch. He was just programmed to be violent.

Also, I personally would have put Cinderella in the hope category. She held onto hope in a hopeless, powerless, and terrible situation, and it kept her from breaking down into utter misery or burning up with hatred. If anybody exemplifies the unwavering faith and spirit of hope, it's her.
Greyman101 Featured By Owner Aug 8, 2013
Actually, it's Cinderella I can see with the red ring. I don't care how happy and hopeful one can be on the outside; suffer that sort of abuse too long, and there'll be a lot of anger buried that's liable to come to the surface.

And seriously, the idea of Ariel with the orange ring is getting kind of old. I think it's a better fit for villains like Jafar who REALLY DO want it all, or gluttons like the three hyenas.

love that jessica rabbit is used.
ironespio Featured By Owner Nov 15, 2012
awesomeness. If u ask me i think Mulan fits better than any of the other princesses as well as many of the other heroes of Disney, i mean think about it she freakin left home to both protect her father's life AND honor and above all she goes on to save China AND the emperor. now i can imagine she was scared to death not only about loosing her life but about the other soldiers finding out she was a woman, that right there to me is the absolute definition of will, and the green lanterns aren't just the embodiment of will but also courage so she fits even better as the green lantern. although Jim Hawkins from Treasure Planet could also be a green lantern for many reason but I've ranted enough bottom line Mulan fits best as green lantern.

I love this! This is AMAZING! But, can you tell me something about Star Sapphire? I mean I heard and saw Green lantern a few times, but I never really knew him that well and I did hear about Star Sapphire(I saw her in one episode of Batman the brave and the Bold). Some people say she was originaly a villain and some say that she is NOT a villain, so I'm a little confused about it. Any explanation?
Silverwingfox Featured By Owner Jul 7, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
Star Sapphire suffers from too many people having a different origin for her. So from the beginning:
Originally Star Sapphire was a villain. and the name was just a standard villain name.
Later on it was retconned that She was from a group of people called the Star Sapphire Corps, and that she wasn't evil, she was just being manipulated by the power of the star sapphire(also name of the crystal they use as a power source). Every now and then people will flip flop between:
1. Crystal is possessing Carol Ferris(The main star sapphire) OR
2. Carol Ferris knowingly and willingly believes in the men are inferior thing an tries to fight Hal Jordan because derpity doo da(I just ignore these)

Pre-New 52, the star sapphires were doing a little better, but there was that pesky crystal that kept possessing members of their corps

I don't particularly like the New 52, so I don't know what's new now.
Reynard531 Featured By Owner Jan 11, 2013
Technically that's correct, but if I may clarify things a little more.

Originally there was only one character called the Star Sapphire, singular. She was a woman (usually Carol Ferris, the love interest of main GL Hal Jordan) who was possessed by a parasitic gem called a star sapphire, which was pink, and her uniform was pink. Back then the energy she used, and the green energy used by the GLs, was just that, energy. There was no emotional connection.

The star sapphire gem also came from a group of aliens called the Zamarons, a tribe of females who had originally been of the same species as the Guardians of the universe, the people who formed the Green Lantern Corp. The Zamarons had splintered off at some point way back, and they gave the sapphire to a woman who resembled their queen (at this point the Zamarons were more human looking instead of being humanoid as they are now).

When Geoff Johns revived the Green Lantern Corp with Green Lantern: Rebirth, he then created the idea of the Emotional Spectrum, that every color in the rainbow corresponds to an emotion. Green was willpower, yellow was fear.

In the case of the Zamarons and the Star Sapphire, the pink energy was reinterpreted as the violet light. I know that in real life violet is a synonym for purple, but in GL, "violet" is more of a pink. Some of the shading in panels makes it purple, and it's even called purple once, but it's pink, some might even say magenta. The promotional ring they released for Blackest Night is pink, while the indigo one is a true purple. That's how I distinguish.

Anyway, the violet light was the light of love. The thing about the Emotional Spectrum is that the further away from the center (green) you are, the more control the light can have over the user. The Zamarons experimented with love for eons, and because they stuck the crystal straight to the head, the power of love totally overwhelmed the host, making them...crazy.

The Zamarons wanted to encase every world in crystals of love to protect them. Once they realized the error of their ways, that they were controlling, and that they had shunned emotion just as much as the Guardians, they chose not to use the raw crystals. They created violet power rings to make the Star Sapphire Corps, plural. And because the ring wasn't directly connected to the brain, it allows the user some level of control over their actions. And so far they are doing good. Imagine if cupid had a police force...with heavy firepower.

Oh, awesome! Love this. Perfect DC/Disney crossover for sure! Each character fits well the Corps you've given them. :)

I honestly love all of these. When I assign for "greed" it's always so HARD though, because sometimes nobody really has the flaw and I just have to go with the closest thing like you did (or use gluttony as a sub because they are close).

Aladdin looks AWESOME. I love how you made the lantern symbols into tattoos due to his lack of upper body clothing. Great call there.
Silverwingfox Featured By Owner Dec 4, 2011  Hobbyist General Artist
it also fits, since the ingdigo lantern is very tribe like, and most of their symbols are just tattoos

kool! awww but ariel isnt selfish....right?
Silverwingfox Featured By Owner Oct 30, 2011  Hobbyist General Artist
shes got Compulsive hoarding disorder. She hordes things that are unnecessary, of which she doesn't even know what they are.

shes also incredibly selfish in that she gave up her entire family for the guy she didn't even know. I mean she put no thought into how this would affect them at all(I understand that she was mad at her dad, but she wasn't mad at her 7 sisters that all cared about her.)
OceanTealBeats Featured By Owner Oct 30, 2011
well yes... when you put it that way then yes it makes sense :)
